Do you accept dogs that bite?
Absolutely not. If your dog has bitten anyone before (or even snapped at someone), I will not take care them. Safety is a huge concern for me and dogs
who are already prone to biting outside of their own environment are even more likely to bite inside their own home as they would see me as an intruder.
I also need to be able to handle the animal, if an emergency should happen.
Do you (or can you) spend the night at the homes of the pets you are taking care of?
No, I do not do house sitting.
Will you take care of special needs pets?
Absolutely! I've worked for a vet for four years so I'm completely accustomed to taking care of special needs pets. I am also a certified veterinary
assistant (my certificate can be viewed here) so I am well trained in special needs pets.
What kinds of animals do you take care of?
I will be happy to take care of dogs, cats, horses, fish, birds, rabbits, goats, and hamsters, gerbils, or mice.
If a medical emergency arises, where do you take the pet?
As stated on my Price List page, if an emergency occurs during regular business hours, I will take your pet to their regular vet free of charge. However, if
it happens after business hours (or on weekends), your pet will be taken to Eastern Carolina Veterinary Emergency Treatment Services (EC VETS) in
Wilson, NC. You will be charged $30.00 extra for this visit. However, I am trained in pet first aid and pet CPR (feel free to see my About Me page to view
my pet first aid training certificate) and I have worked for a small animal vet for four years and have spent two years working with horses so I am able to
handle a situation until (s)he can be taken to a vet, if need be. You will be responsible for any and all bills that result from a trip to the vet!
About how much time do you spend at each house?
On average, I spend at least 30 minutes at each house, each visit.
What other services do you provide?
I will gladly check your mail, water your plants, turn on and off your lights, television, or radio, and take your garbage to the road all for free.
Do you have a blog with up-to-date availability information?
I certainly do! You can check out my blog by clicking here!
Do you perform consultations? And if so, how much do they cost?
Absolutely! I think that the first meeting is very important so that you can see me interact with your animals. There is no charge for consultations.
Do you have anyone assist you when you are out of town?
Yes, my father helps me when I go out of town. You will always know ahead of time if your appointments will require a visit from him. You are more than
welcome to request an additional consultation (again, free of charge) to meet with him and discuss any questions or concerns you may have.
How many days in advance should I book my appointment?
I prefer to have at least one week's notice on all appointments lasting more than two or three days. This is mainly to make sure that I have room to take
care of your pets and will not be out of town.
Do you accept last minute appointments?
I do accept them. I understand that things come up without notice (funerals, family sick in the hospital, etc.) and I will gladly take care of your animals. But
you must understand that I will sometimes be out of town and it will requires visits from my "assistant" (a.k.a. my father), however that will be made clear
when you call to make the appointment.
How much time in advance do you require for cancellations?
If you cancel less than 48 hours from your first appointment, you will be charged for one regular appointment. If you are cancelling a holiday appointment,
I require 72 hours notice or you will be charged for one regular Holiday appointment. (Holiday pricing is found on the pricing page.) If you are carrying a
balance with LDPSS due to this cancellation policy, your account must be paid in full before any additional pet sitting will be done.
Is there a charge for mileage?
Despite gas prices (which have hit us all very hard), there is no charge for mileage at this point in time.
What forms of payment do you currently accept?
I gladly accept checks and cash. We do accept credit cards but only for appointments made online. Credit card payments are done using PayPal. You do
not need a PayPal account to be able to pay your bill. There is a $25.00 returned check fee!
When is my payment due?
Payment is due at the time of services rendered. However, you are welcome to pay prior to your pet sitting appointment.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Absolutely! The minimum amount you can purchase is $15.00.
How do I make an appointment online?
Click on Make an Appointment page and fill out the appropriate questionnaire. Email it to me, along with your preferred method of payment. Then an
email will be sent to you with the final price, along with any additional questions that I may have. If you selected to pay via credit card, an invoice will be
sent to you. The payment must be made by the beginning date of your pet sitting appointment!
Are you bonded and/or insured?
Not at this point in time.
